acta announces plans to extend the acta centre towards Palmerston Street, to make a multi-purpose space available for community events and as a second rehearsal & performance space. This new space will have its own kitchen and toilets, and so can be self-contained and available to hire whilst acta is using the existing space for its regular programme.

The extension will also add a bar/lounge area to the foyer, improving the facilities for our theatre audiences, and create dressing room space & cast toilets in a new backstage area.

The extension will add to the work initiated locally to improve the South Street Park area, which borders the acta centre site.

We plan to submit a planning application in November, and make a bid for funding to Arts Council England in December 13. The work would take place in Spring/Summer 15.
