Both acta bids to Arts Council England have been successful – A capital bid to extend the acta centre in 2015, and core funding support for 2015 -18.
We are delighted to receive news that both of our bids to Arts Council England have been successful – a capital grant to extend the acta centre, to include a second theatre space, a foyer/bar and backstage areas – and National Portfolio Organisation status for the 2015 – 18 period.
This support is investment in the success of the Company, which has an ambitious programme to develop theatre with people across Bristol, as well as on the national and international stage. The acta centre development is central to these plans to build the profile of community theatre, and to ensure opportunities for everyone to participate in theatre.
Most recently, the sell-out Gas Girls WWI centenary show took a previously untold local story to produce a piece of community theatre of exceptional quality, with Bristol community members creating & performing to new theatre audiences. On 1 July, Neil Beddow, acta’s Artistic Director, has been invited to 10 Downing Street to tell the Prime Minister all about it!
