Would you like to be a part of a free training and development programme delivered by one of the country’s leading community theatre organisations?
Do you have a passion for theatre, community development and social change?
Do you want to work alongside communities supporting, developing, facilitating, producing or directing high-quality and impactful community-based theatre and arts initiatives?
Then our Elevate Associates scheme is for you!
Who is this for?
We are looking for up to 10 theatre practitioners who face barriers and challenges to pursuing a career in theatre due to a number of different circumstances, whether that is down to social or familial barriers, or health and wellbeing challenges.
The scheme would suit early to mid-career artists and practitioners, and those with some experience already of working in community theatre settings, whether that is in this country or abroad.
What can I expect?
You will be part of a friendly and supportive group who will meet together not only to take part in workshops, seminars and events delivered by acta, but also as a peer-support group, helping each other through the challenges that you face.
You can expect to learn and explore your own ideas in a safe, fun and supportive environment. We would expect that you can attend most of the sessions, but we do understand that often, people have other commitments that can arise unexpectedly.
What will it include?
The scheme will consist of 8 sessions in 4 main areas of training & development:
Creative facilitation
acta Methodology
Engaging communities
Social Enterprise
Additionally, there will be two online seminars and two practice exchange sessions where you can try out ideas alongside your peers. There will be a final celebration at the end of March 2023.
What will happen after the scheme ends?
After the scheme we hope you will feel equipped to create, deliver and manage your own projects, and there will also be the opportunity to create projects in collaboration with acta.
Where and when will it take place?
The sessions will take place at the acta centre, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 3AY.
The scheme will last for 7 months (September 2022-March 2023)
