Lockleaze Youth Theatre

Lockleaze Youth Theatre

Lockleaze Youth Theatre was first developed with Youth Investment Fund support in 2017-20. It has since secured investment from Quartet to be developed further in 2020-21, engaging young people of secondary school age in the Lockleaze area of Bristol. The project is co-led by acta’s Rosalie Pordes and acta Associate Jody Cook.

We are accepting new young people for this group! Starting back again in September 2021, if you are interested in finding out more, take a look at our take part – young people page and contact Rosalie on [email protected]

During the pandemic, workshops have been moved online, and the group have worked towards producing films. Thankfully, due to easing of restrictions, the youth theatre managed to perform the postponed Forest of Fears production. Set in the woods in Lockleaze, this was performed to a small audience of family members (see image below).

Workshops and performances

The youth theatre met weekly for a series of in-person workshops at The Hub on Gainsborough Square, Lockleaze in September and October 2020, developing the show Spooky Tales. Despite fears of lockdowns and thunderstorms, they managed to perform twice to a sold out audience at the end of October! The group have made the decision to meet monthly online, until they can meet up in person again, when they will return to weekly sessions.
