Throughout October and November, Rosalie Pordes and Maryam Rutter have been visiting our Malcolm X Elders Theatre Company on their doorsteps, asking them questions about their lives.
“How did the Bristol Bus Boycotts make you feel?”
“Why did you start St Pauls’ Carnival?”
“What has been your experience of being black in Bristol?”
About this schools project
All of the questions were asked by students from local schools in Bristol – Glenfrome & Stoke Park Primary Schools, and Trinity (Lockleaze) & Colston Girls Secondary Schools.
As part of our commitment to connect school children to their community, we asked students to put forward questions for the Elders. This film is the result of hundreds of questions, condensed down into 10 minutes of some of our favourites. We hope you enjoy…

Other November release acta films
November is a busy film month for acta. We have also been creating a film with our Young Carers Youth Theatre, which will be premiered live on Thursday 3rd December to the group, via acta’s YouTube channel.
We were also privileged to be asked to speak at the Global Migrant Festival 2020. Rosalie, Hiba, Ingrid and Neil were interviewed by TEDx Singapore’s Vivian Lim, on the way we produce community theatre with migrant communities.
You can watch the panel discussion live on Facebook on Saturday 21st November at 8pm: Global Migrant Festival Facebook Page.
