Sailors’ Tales (2016) celebrated the people engaged in Bristol’s merchant navy and maritime industries during the post-war period, focusing on stories newly collected from sailors, dockworkers and their families living in Avonmouth and North Bristol. The project used theatre, film and written word to celebrate the lives, times and contribution of these unsung heroes (and heroines) and explore local links with the sea.

Following a series of small scale  “play in a day” projects with primary schools, linking older people and children, an original new show, Sailors’ Tales performed 2 – 12 November 2016, at actacentre and in Avonmouth itself.

Schools taking part: Avonmouth & Avon Primaries in Avonmouth, Stoke Park Primary in Lockleaze, Winford Primary in North Somerset, and Compass Point in Bedminster.
