COAST links acta with three European partners who provide a platform for the creation of original theatre with socially excluded and marginalised people, and enabled the first international festival of community theatre in Bristol in March. In 2017, COAST was awarded prestigious ‘success story’ status by EU Creative Europe.
acta has made a successful bid to the EU Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Fund for Grey Matters, a two year project which will focus on making community theatre with older people. acta will work with our Malcolm X Elders Theatre Co to create the Ticky Picky Boom Boom show, which has been invited to perform at the ICAF Festival in Rotterdam next March
On 28 February, an invited audience at the acta centre enjoyed a workshop performance by a new community theatre group set up with Bristol Refugee Rights (BRR). Our partnership with BRR began at the Coast festival last year, when they organised a group visit to come to see the CAN show, Down With The Dictator.
