Chasing funding has often been a struggle, despite the many reasons and benefits for the work we do. Neil Beddow, Artistic Director, recalls stories from the past 35 years and the ongoing determination to secure resources, to deliver more and better.
To commemorate our 30th birthday this year, we’re trawling through our archives and finding some images which tell the acta story. So here goes with number one! Kids’ Theatre performing songs from ‘Handle with Care’ at a cabaret benefit event for Kez in 1985, to buy her a new wheelchair! acta had just started, and this was one of the first shows.
The acta Centre was packed to the rafters with an eager audience for the three special preview performances of Gas Girls, at the end of March, which were a huge success.

acta’s next touring community theatre show previews at the actacentre in March, before touring to Bristol neighbourhoods in June. This WWI centenary show tells a remarkable local story. Box office for all performances is now open, with tickets just £3.
